BIOSKETCH

Fr Dr Jijo Francis is the Director of the Christ Biological Research Centre (CBRC) and an accomplished academician and researcher in the fields of molecular genetics, human disease biology, and translational biomedical research. He also serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology at Christ College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda, where he teaches Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, and Microbiology to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Dr. Francis completed his PhD in Zoology with specialization in Human Genetics from the University of Calicut, focusing on genetic polymorphisms associated with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). His research integrates genetic, molecular, and bioinformatics approaches to understand disease mechanisms and identify potential biomarkers.

His scientific contributions include multiple peer-reviewed publications in areas such as genetic epidemiology, neuroengineering, nanotechnology-based applications, and computational biology. His work spans diverse domains including PCOS genetics, cancer biology, machine learning-based disease detection, and advanced biomedical device development.

Dr. Francis has received several prestigious recognitions, including Young Scientist Awards, Best Paper Presentation Awards, and national-level competitive qualifications such as CSIR-UGC NET (Life Sciences) and GATE. He is an active member of professional bodies including the Indian Society of Human Genetics and contributes to advancing genetic research in India.

With strong expertise in molecular biology techniques, cytogenetics, next-generation sequencing, bioinformatics, and in vitro/in vivo experimental models, Dr. Francis leads multidisciplinary research initiatives at CBRC. As Director, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the research vision of the centre, promoting innovation, facilitating collaborations, and mentoring young researchers toward high-impact scientific contributions.
