BIOSKETCH
Dr. K. G. Raghu is an Emeritus Professor and Research Facilitator at the Christ Biological Research Centre (CBRC), with an extensive career in biomedical research and drug discovery. He previously served as Chief Scientist at CSIR–National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), bringing over three decades of experience in molecular biology, pharmacology, and translational research.
His research expertise spans metabolic syndromes, cardiovascular biology, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, and the development of bioactive compounds from natural sources. Dr. Raghu has made significant contributions to understanding mechanisms underlying diabetes, cardiac hypertrophy, inflammation, and metabolic disorders, with a strong focus on identifying therapeutic targets and developing novel interventions.
Throughout his career, he has led multiple nationally funded research projects and supervised numerous PhD scholars, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students. His mentorship has resulted in several award-winning research contributions and the successful development of young scientists in the biomedical field.
Dr. Raghu has authored a large number of publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and has contributed to patents and translational technologies. He is a Fellow of prestigious scientific academies, including the Indian Academy of Biomedical Sciences and the Kerala Academy of Sciences, and has served in leadership roles such as President of the Indian Academy of Biomedical Sciences.
In addition to his research contributions, he has actively participated in academic governance, peer review, and national scientific committees, contributing to the advancement of biomedical science in India. At CBRC, he plays a key role in guiding research programs, fostering collaborations, and mentoring early-career scientists.
